Fight at burial ground leads to multiple charges
An Immigration officer and five women appeared in court yesterday following an incident at Lambert’s Cemetery where a firearm was discharged at a cemetery on October 17.
The most serious charges were levelled against Immigration Officer Ty Thomas, who allegedly fired his weapon while attempting to control a brawl that erupted during the service.
Thomas, who also faces assault charges against Janae Richards, was granted bail at $7,500 after his attorney Andrew O’kola requested access to the police file.
Five women – Jan Bright-Jarvis, Jenae Richards, Tenay Spencer, Yvette Joseph, and Rochelle Murphy – were charged with disorderly conduct by fighting. Murphy faces additional charges of throwing stones and being armed with a hammer, while Bright-Jarvis is accused of assaulting two people. Richards and Spencer face mutual assault charges.
The women, who all pleaded not guilty, were represented by attorneys Joanne Messiah and Wendel Alexander. Each received bail at $2,500 with strict conditions.
As part of their bail conditions, all defendants must surrender their travel documents. Thomas is required to report to police three times weekly and relinquish his firearm, while the women must check in once per week.
The cases will proceed separately, with Thomas due back in court December 4, 2024, and the women’s trial set for early February 2025.
What a comess! Were it not for the occasion and venue, this could have been entered under ‘Antigua Comedy’. These things don’t usually happen here. I wonder of they are from the deep South or the far north. What a disgrace!!

The Immigration officer should have known better, firing his weapon in a public domain like that during this occasion. He is trained as part of the country homeland security force.
