The Development Control Authority, the DCA, has issued a stop order for the removal of a perimeter fence that has been obstructing public access to Galley Beach in Five Islands.
Residents in the area have been voicing complaints for weeks about being unable to access the beach. Some have even reported instances where police were present, allegedly preventing entry to the public property, that is.
The matter has also drawn attention from the Antigua Barbuda Labor Party’s caretaker for the St. John’s Rural West constituency Senator Michael Joseph, who disclosed this week that access has been restored.
He shared the information via social media.
“Access has been granted to allow for individuals to be able to access the beach unhindered by any gate or anything like that. And this re-emphasizes the point by the late V.C. Bird that all beaches are public”, said Joseph.
Way to go I actually went down there after seeing a video of it to see for myself.. wicked set a people…now about the other blockades to our lovely beaches…
Great! A clear message to greedy, selfish, racist “investors”!. As Gabby sang a few years ago AND AS WE ALL KNOW, “the beaches belong to we” (the people)
It is a disgrace to spell the father of the Nation’s name incorrectly. Please make the adjustment immediately.
