Statement of Endorsement for George Wehner as the UPP Candidate for St. Peter

As the Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South, I fully endorse George Wehner as the United Progressive Party’s candidate for the St. Peter constituency.

Wehner’s unwavering dedication to the people of Antigua and Barbuda and his relentless advocacy for their rights have been truly commendable.

He stands ready to defend the rights of the people of St. Peter, especially at a time when the community has lost the commitment of their beloved leader, Asot Michael.

Wehner’s commitment to exposing the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) administration’s incompetence and hypocrisy has been instrumental in holding them accountable.

The people of St. Peter should not forget Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s statement that constituencies that did not vote Labour would be left behind—a sentiment that has been evident in his treatment of St. Peter.

During the by-election in St. Mary’s South, Prime Minister Browne was on the ground making numerous promises to the people in his bid to win.

However, once his party lost, he disappeared from the scene, only to reappear recently with a litany of new empty promises on top of his many unfulfilled promises. This pattern of behavior underscores the Prime Minister’s lack of genuine concern for the people of St. Peter.

Rawdon Turner has presented a manifesto for what he will do in St. Peter, but what he should be presenting is a report card outlining his government’s lack of performance since the last election.

His recycled plans are an insult to the people and just a replay and recycling of empty promises. Just by looking at the state of the roads in St. Peter alone, one can see how heartless and shameless he is to present this vacuous manifesto.

I urge the people of St. Peter not to be swayed by empty promises. It is essential to judge Rawdon Turner and the ABLP by their actions—their track record of poor performance and disrespect for the people of St. Peter.

I urge you to give George Wehner the opportunity to demonstrate what effective representation looks like.

His dedication, integrity, and genuine concern for the well-being of the people make him the ideal candidate to serve and uplift St. Peter’s residents and this country.

St. Peter, let’s rise together, Vote George Wehner.

Hon. Kelvin Simon, MP for St. Mary’s South
