Akeem Brookes of Grays Farm was remanded today after pleading guilty before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel to charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He is scheduled to return to the St. Johns court for sentencing tomorrow.

Brookes was arrested and charged on Sunday when police, while patrolling near the Hoppers’ Playing Field, discovered a .32 caliber pistol along with seven matching rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Following his arrest, he was taken into custody and held until his court appearance today, where he entered his guilty plea.
