Plans are already in the works for the 2025 edition of the ‘greatest summer festival’ Antigua’s Carnival.
According to Chair of the Festivals Commission Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, discussions will go ahead this week to finalize the theme and week of activities.
“We are going to start confirming our sub-committee chairs. We have started interacting with our mas troupes and I have asked them to put together their suggestions for routes so we can take it to Cabinet and discuss and not just wait two weeks before.
“I have already started speaking with some soca artistes but we are going to meet with everyone. We want to start engaging them, the Pan Association, the soca fraternity, and the Calypso fraternity and we want to discuss with them about if we should take it back to a two-song competition night for soca. Do we keep calypso as is? So, you know we want to discuss a number of things,” Mahkoul said on state media earlier this week.
Improving the judging during events is also on the cards, along with increased marketing on social media and international markets.
This year’s edition of Carnival will be from July 25th- August 5th.
