Barbara Coates, UPP Caretaker for All Saints West, continues to demonstrate her commitment to uplifting her community by addressing immediate needs while building a foundation for long-term growth.
Last weekend, Coates and her team donated essential supplies to 60 homes in All Saints West. The packages, which included food items and toiletries, were a gesture of relief during this difficult economic climate.
“January is often a challenging month, especially with the recent increase in salary deductions by Social Security. After many families stretched their budgets to ensure a joyous Christmas, this donation comes at a critical time,” Coates explained. “With the rising cost of goods, we wanted to provide some relief to help residents navigate the final week of the month.”
The donation effort is part of a broader vision Coates has for her constituency, which goes beyond temporary support.
This weekend, she and her team will host Wisdom Wishes, a community event designed to bridge the wisdom of seniors with the energy and aspirations of the youth.
The event aims to foster self-sufficiency, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, providing a platform for intergenerational dialogue and collaboration.
“As I engage with residents, I see firsthand the economic challenges that many face, especially seniors and single mothers,” Coates shared. “While donations provide immediate relief, events like Wisdom Wishes focus on building resilience by equipping our community with the tools and knowledge to thrive.”
