Minister with responsibility for Public Utilities Hon. Melford Nicholas is satisfied with the ongoing work of the water storage tank in Buckleys.

At a site vist yesterday with Project Mechanical Engineer at APUA Mr. Bryan Nicholas, Minister Nicholas spoke on the continued work to enhance for a more reliable water supply to serve the residents of Buckleys, Falmouth, Cobbs Cross, Piccadilly and English Harbour.

The 700,000 gallon storage tank according to Mr. Bryan Nicholas is a testament that APUA is committed to supplying potable water of the highest international standard, and at the same time ensuring long-term sustainability and readiness to meet the continuous growing demands of the communities.

The rehabilitation of the Buckleys Water Storage Tank according to Minister Nicholas is part of an overall US$40million investment by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, aimed at ensuring increased water production and delivery across the country.

The tank which operated for over 40 years, went out of commission in 2019 due to corrosion.

Work on rehabilitating the Buckelys Water Storage Tank according to Mr. Bryan Nicholas is expected to be completed by May this year.

  1. It went out of commission in 2019 due to lack of maintenance and was neglected until 2025 which caused it to further detiriate. By the way Mr Nicolas are you ok? Pardon my observation but you do look slightly under the weather.
