Barbuda is set to make history this July as it prepares to host the 111th Meeting of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s (ECCB) Monetary Council, marking the first time such a high-level regional financial meeting will be held on the sister isle.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that the meeting, scheduled for July 18, 2025, will bring together finance ministers from across the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), many of whom also serve as prime ministers or chief ministers in their respective territories.

In a further boost to Barbuda’s profile as a meeting destination, Prime Minister Browne also revealed that he is considering hosting a future CARICOM meeting on the island, though this has not been definitively confirmed.

The Monetary Council is the highest decision-making authority of the ECCB, responsible for making key policy decisions affecting the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.
