In an exciting opener to the 53rd edition of the Leeward Islands Debating Competition, Team Antigua & Barbuda showcased its debating prowess, securing a victory against Team Anguilla with a score of 134 to 128.
The dynamic duo of Diamond Weaver and Gadija Buffonge took to the stage to oppose the moot: “Permissive parenting has negatively affected Gen Zs.”
Their performance not only earned them the win but also highlighted Buffonge’s exceptional debating skills, as she was named the Best Speaker of the evening.
With this win, Team Antigua & Barbuda advances to the semifinals, where they are set to face off against the defending champions, Team Nevis, at 9 PM on Friday evening.
The upcoming match promises to be an intense battle as both teams aim for a place in the finals of this prestigious competition.
The competition continues to draw attention across the region, celebrating the art of debate and the critical thinking skills of its young participants.
