The government of Antigua and Barbuda will permanently leave the Ryan Group building on Old Parham Road, as confirmed by Prime Minister Gaston Browne yesterday.

This decision follows a contentious lockout executed by the property owner over unresolved rental payments, which Paul Ryan told Antigua.news amounts to a whopping $8 million.

During his weekly radio talk show, Browne explained that the Cabinet has sanctioned the relocation of public servants to alternative government facilities.

Among these is a spacious 20,000-square-foot structure in Coolidge, which is set to undergo renovations over the next three weeks.

Additionally, temporary offices will be established near the Office of the Prime Minister and on St. John’s Street to accommodate affected staff.

Browne pointed out that many older rental properties, including the Ryan Group’s building, often suffer from poor maintenance, leading to health hazards such as mold and malfunctioning air-conditioning systems.
