The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) has confirmed that one of its members is currently under investigation for a criminal offence involving an illegal substance.

In a public notice issued this morning from Camp Blizzard headquarters, the ABDF stated that while they initially began internal proceedings “in accordance with established military protocols,” it was later “determined that the case would proceed under civilian jurisdiction.”

“The ABDF assures the public that it is working in full collaboration with the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda to ensure that justice is served,” the statement read. “This joint approach reflects our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.”

The military organization emphasized its dedication to maintaining high standards within its ranks, noting that they “remain steadfast in [their] responsibility to uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity.”

The Defence Force acknowledged the significance of this matter to the public, stating, “We recognize the importance of maintaining public trust and national security, and we will continue to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities in this matter.”

The notice did not disclose the identity of the member involved or provide specific details about the allegations.

  1. Well that person is only one caught of many. Whole ton of them handling drugs. This is just an unfortunate one so what they need to do is press this person until the others are revealed.

  2. How can a matter like they even be thought of dealing internally. Should have been probes as a criminal offence from the start irrespective of who commits it

  6. It’s disappointing to hear something like this coming from within the Defence Force. Look out the windows of a community that already struggles with crime and trust in the system, we expect the military to be the example. I respect that ABDF is cooperating with police and being transparent, but I hope this isn’t just talk. One bad apple can shake the whole tree if it’s not dealt with properly. We want to see real accountability, not just a quiet transfer of blame. atleast they made something public. know they like to up and hide and protect

  7. This is a serious issue, and I appreciate the ABDF being upfront with the public. But transparency means more than a press release, If we’re talking about illegal substances and someone in uniform, the public deserves to know some level of identity. I hope this doesn’t get quietly swept under the rug, cause that’s the famous thing to save reputations
