There is shock in Barbuda, following the sudden death of former Senator, Atkinson Beazer. The 65-year-old was among a group who went to sea Saturday morning when he complained of feeling unwell. He was rushed back to shore and was later pronounced dead by the district doctor.

The launch of Barbuda’s Caribana which had been scheduled for today, has since been postponed in the wake of the former Senator’s untimely demise.

Beazer had been a long-serving member of the Barbuda Council, who had celebrated his birthday on April 22. He served in Parliament’s Upper House, representing the Barbuda Council.

Barbudans had already been reeling from another sudden death on Wednesday of this week, as one of Beazer’s neighbours had died in her sleep.
