UPP and ABWU Unite for Rally (file photo)
The United Progressive Party has planned what the opposition leader, Jamale Pringle, expects to be a major public rally.
The event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, at Knuckle Block in Gray’s Farm under the theme “One Mission”.
The Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union is joining forces with the UPP to stage the rally, and according to Pringle, it forms part of a valued tradition held on the eve of Labour Day, aimed at celebrating workers and raising awareness of their issues.
Pringle emphasized that the rally would serve a dual purpose: advocating for workers’ rights while rallying support for the UPP’s primary goal—ousting the current Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) and Prime Minister Gaston Browne from power.
“It’s a tradition for our union and party to join forces in a public rally to voice our support for workers as Labour Day approaches,” Pringle stated. “Our unified goal is clear: to replace Gaston Browne and the ABLP.”
The Opposition leader further remarked, “We are dedicated to bringing workers’ issues to the forefront of political discourse.” He noted that the rally is not just a political gesture but a call for improved Labour practices, governance, and accountability.
Both the UPP and ABWU are calling on the public to support workers, who have reportedly endured challenges due to current government policies. “We encourage everyone to join us this Thursday evening as we stand for workers’ rights,” Pringle urged.
The event is expected to include speeches from union leaders, political representatives, and community activists, amplifying the voices of those tirelessly advocating for workers’ rights.
Good luck with your nonesense. ABWU will forever be political. Nothing they do is normal. Always there is a political agenda. UPP is the same for obvious reasons but the ABWU was meant to protect workers rights.
