President of the Antigua Trades & Labour Union (AT&LU) Bernard DeNully is reminding the nation not to be distracted by other frivolous matters but to remember and focus on workers’ rights, as they are the backbone of national development.

DeNully was speaking at the Labour Day celebrations at the VC Bird bust.

“The workers are the lifeline of this country,” DeNully said.

He assured workers that the AT&LU will move forward with a different route in ensuring the rights of workers under their body are compensated.

“It will not be business as usual anymore. We will be going forward for our monthly workers and APUA workers in this fight. We will stand on the battlefield soon with you the workers of APUA to deal with the grievances for a better benefit package.

“The AT&LU understands the importance of maintaining a healthy workplace. The union has been in constant dialogue with government as it relates to the health issues and we have made recommendations for shortened workdays for workers, regular deep cleaning and installing of ventilators to help air flow, among other issues,” DeNully added.

DeNully called on all unions to represent their membership to the best of their ability and stop getting caught up in political wars.

“The strength of all unions working together means a better chance to eliminate the social injustice for workers in Antigua and Barbuda,” he concluded.

  1. For labourites anything that questions your party is frivolous. We will raise our voices when we want about who and what we want. You do not come and dictate to us what we should be pissed about

  2. You people only try to distract us from the damage and mess you put us in. If anything is distracting is the ABLP and their lies. That’s all what we are fed
