In an exciting development for air travel in the Caribbean, Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that Air Peace, a prominent Nigerian airline, is expected to commence scheduled flights between Antigua and Barbuda and Lagos by the fourth quarter of this year.

“I believe by the fourth quarter of this year; Air Peace will commence a scheduled flight between Antigua and Barbuda and Lagos.”

This revelation was made during a recent Parliament sitting, during which discussions centered on the Air Services Agreement between Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of Rwanda.

The ratification of this treaty was approved following some debate among parliament members, highlighting the importance of improving connectivity within the region.

PM Browne emphasized that this treaty is just one of several agreements the government aims to pursue, with negotiations currently underway with Ghana and other West African countries.

Notably, the Cabinet’s successful facilitation of Air Peace’s investment in LIAT (2020) has kept the airline operational for over a year, granting Caribbean nationals access to enhanced connectivity that has been significantly reduced in recent times.

The anticipated flights promise to foster closer ties between the Caribbean and West Africa, offering new opportunities for tourism and commerce while making travel more accessible for residents in both regions.
