Permanent Secretary Transfer Unrelated to Teachers’ Strike – Hurst

“It takes place all the time, by the way,”. That’s how the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister responded to questions about the removal of Rosa Greenway as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education.

Greenway was transferred less than 24 hours after the teachers ended their week-long strike over payment issues
Lionel Hurst says the recent changes in the Permanent Secretaries across various ministries were not directly linked to the Teachers’ Union industrial action

According to Hurst, anyone within the government service, including permanent secretaries, is aware of the possibility of reassignment.

He explained that when a transfer decision is made, individuals are quickly moved between ministries—a practice that has been common under both the Baldwin-Spencer and Gaston Browne administrations.

“That decision about moving people around is beneficial because the skills required in one ministry may differ from those in another. As a consequence, there is a significant learning curve,” Hurst added.

He further highlighted that permanent secretaries are among the most intelligent employees in the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, allowing them to learn and adapt swiftly.

  1. I don’t see the big deal. People do get transferred all the time. Companies make that move in the best interest of their business and that’s what the government is doing in that case

    • Nahhh. In the government case, they are just trying to protect the little image left of the ABLP. Don’t be fooled by the words of any of these people. They want us to believe their lies to not see the things they do as we suppose to
