Cabinet eyes Nationwide removal of derelict vehicles

As the beautification of the city surges on, Cabinet is setting sights on another major clean up initiative, the removal of derelict vehicles.

Over the years, plans have been made for removal, but the process has not been completed.

Press Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Maurice Merchant admitted that in the past, there hasn’t been much follow through in the program.

Cabinet is now calling on the Minister of Social Transformation and Urban Renewal Rawdon Turner to get the job done.

“The individuals responsible for identifying these derelict vehicles, they are required to mark these vehicles, and then it moves on to the next step of removing these vehicles. There will be a start to this process, and then it fizzles. The cabinet instructed the Honorable Minister that this must not be the case.

“They must be removed. As you drive around the country, you will see them all over, and it is not a good view, a good scene for our tourism product at all and so the cabinet says, get it fixed, in other words,” Merchant explained.

In addition to this program, Cabinet will be appointing additional litter wardens.

A public education campaign will also be launched.

  6. This shouldn’t be a once or twice a year exercise. It should be ongoing because for the amount of derelict vehicles we have it will take more than once or twice a year ti address that matter

  7. I really hope the government gets rid of these vehicles from around the country because some of them look unsightly. On top of that they have become the breeding ground for pests. Vagrants even go and shit in them. I am supporting the governments move
