Prime Minister Browne Applauds Antigua and Barbuda’s Use of Immersive Technology in Global Tourism Promotion

In an exciting development for the Caribbean tourism industry, Antigua and Barbuda has gained significant attention for its innovative use of immersive technology in marketing.

The destination has recently made headlines with the award-winning project “Antigua and Barbuda Unveiled: A VR 360° Paradise,” developed in collaboration with Winged Whale Media.

This remarkable initiative has been recognized with a prestigious 2025 Telly Award for its exceptional use of 360-degree video in immersive and mixed reality.

Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne expressed his admiration for the project, highlighting its potential as a transformative marketing tool.

“This phenomenal technology not only showcases the natural beauty and warmth of our islands but also solidifies our status as a premier travel destination,” he stated.

The VR experience offers viewers a breathtaking 360-degree tour of Antigua and Barbuda’s stunning landscapes, rich heritage, and diverse experiences, leading the way for the Caribbean in harnessing modern technology.

Tourism Minister, Charles Fernandez, played a pivotal role in the project’s success and expressed pride in Antigua and Barbuda being the first in the region to adopt such an advanced marketing approach.

“This initiative exemplifies our commitment to innovation within tourism marketing and aligns with our growing reputation as a hub for technology and creativity,” he remarked.

The launch of this immersive technology comes just before Antigua and Barbuda hosts the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus’ Annual Artificial Intelligence Conference next month.

Minister Fernandez noted the coincidence as a significant moment for the nation, linking the advancements in tourism marketing with the broader conversation on AI and technology’s role in revolutionizing industries.

Additionally, Prime Minister Browne took the opportunity to commend Minister Fernandez for the successful hosting of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2025, which showcased the islands as a burgeoning leader in regional tourism.

Winged Whale Media, recognized globally for its expertise in immersive storytelling, has played an integral role in setting standards for destination marketing through technology. With multiple international awards under its belt, including Hermes Creative Gold and NYX Awards Gold, the company continues to innovate in the field.
