Minister Daryll Matthew and Brigadier Telbert Benjamin
The Antigua & Barbuda National Cadet Corps is preparing for an exciting opportunity as it gears up for the Caribbean Cadet Camp 2025, which will be hosted in Dominica from July 19th to August 2nd, 2025.
This significant event, organized by the Caribbean Cadet Association, is set to draw over 350 cadets and officers from across the region, focusing on military-style training, cultural exchange, leadership development, discipline, and community service.
In a move to bolster support for this initiative, Brigadier Telbert Benjamin recently met with the Hon. Daryll Matthew, Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries.
During this meeting, Minister Matthew announced a generous donation from the Ministry of Education to assist the Antigua & Barbuda National Cadet Corps (ABNCC).
This funding will facilitate the transportation of two adult supervisors and ten cadets to the camp, ensuring their participation in this transformative experience.
The selected cadets, representing a variety of institutions including St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Clare Hall Secondary School, All Saints Secondary School, Seventh-day Adventist Academy, Antigua Grammar School, Sir Novelle Richards Academy, and UWI Five Islands, exemplify the rich diversity of Antigua & Barbuda’s academic community.
The ABNCC expressed heartfelt gratitude for this support, recognizing that it not only enables participation in the camp but also enhances the capacity of the Cadet Corps to develop its training programs and instill discipline among its members. This opportunity promises to foster individual growth among cadets, equipping them to make meaningful contributions to their communities while embodying values of service, respect, and leadership.
The Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force also conveyed its deep appreciation to the Ministry of Education for its ongoing investment in the nation’s youth. Events like the Caribbean Cadet Camp are viewed as crucial stepping stones toward nation-building, fostering regional collaboration, and empowering young people to become future leaders.
Together, our efforts are focused on cultivating tomorrow’s leaders today.
