When nationalistic tendencies inform the interaction between ethnic groups that are closely related – it is always an interesting study. On the part of the Caribbean nationals however – due to vulnerability and socioeconomic standing – it becomes a more dangerous game.
As residents of the Caribbean battle natural disasters, potential economic stability, and apathy on the part of larger countries – can they afford to also stoke the fires of enmity between each other?
unfortunately all those things you are hoping for only happens after a diaster and as soon as the diaster is over, go back where you come from ..west Indian mentality.
The Caribbean is filled with hate due to the different in culture and the heart and wickedness of man. No matter what is said and done it can’t get better.
Thanks for the little bit in history. At the same time. A Caribbean country is always hating another. And Antigua stands as the biggest one. Antiguans has no love in them, not even for their own kinds.
Oh Lord don’t be so hash. I find some Antiguans are very welcoming while other look down on foreigners.
We need to realize that the majority if us travel and kay have migrated at one point in our lives or the other.
It is important to treat people the way we would want to be treated in a foreign place.
Sometimes some foreigner who have I’ll intend dirty the water for others
Comment *All humans are distant or close cousins, not just Caribbean people, not just black people. We are all family. No one should hate anyone. No one should push the other down. No one should fight down others for social status, power, money etc. All gain should be by honest diligent work. We should all try to elevate one another until all humans are comfortable and successful. However, on the other hand, because of historical nuances, people will always feel a bit more comfortable around “their own kind”, whatever that means – shared history, culture etc. and will always resent those who try to upend their culture en masse. Antigua is small and too many “outsiders” can rapidly change a culture too quickly so some people become resentful. Funny thing though is that people don’t really even know who is originally Antiguan vs who is not because at this point children born here have ancestors from all over the place so some Antiguans hate other Antiguans based on pre-conceived notions about what an Antiguan looks like an how they imagine an Antiguan should behave, imagining the other person to not be also an Antiguan. I do believe that people should just treat others well no matter what, but people born in a country should have first preference for local opportunities. However, you can’t tell who is local just from appearances. If all humans just treated all other humans fairly and kindly no matter what, then none of this would be a problem. This means being kind to locals and foreigners alike but also not going to other people’s places to take over their culture or commit crimes. It also means not trying to force complete integration. People can work together without being identical or having full access to each other’s homes and lives. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself,” said someone famous.

Excellent article – if only!!!! 😔
One of the main reason why the caribbean ppl are the way they are, is because of the slave trade. It would have caused alot of distrust of people. That is what messed up alot of us.
Great work. Antigua.news seem to have attracted some great minds and professional people. Keep up the great work guys.
