In a significant milestone for the nation, the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has extended its commendations to the Minister for Utilities of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) for achieving a remarkable daily water production capacity of 8 million gallons.

This achievement sets the stage for further progress, with projections indicating that APUA could reach a capacity of 9 million gallons within the coming week. This historic accomplishment marks a new era for water management in the country, surpassing the performance of all previous administrations.

To bolster APUA’s efforts in meeting the ever-growing national water demand, the Cabinet approved the procurement of essential equipment aimed at expanding the existing dams located at Dunnings and Big Creek.

In addition, plans are in motion to construct new ponds and dams in farming communities across the nation, thereby addressing agricultural water needs as well.

This initiative is a crucial component of a broader strategic plan focused on enhancing Antigua and Barbuda’s water infrastructure.

By ensuring a consistent and resilient water supply for both residential and agricultural sectors, the government is taking significant steps toward sustainable development and resource management.
