The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has announced a significant achievement in its water production capabilities, surpassing an extraordinary milestone by generating over 9 million gallons of water per day.
On June 6, the APUA recorded a production level of 9,040,183 imperial gallons, utilizing a mix of reverse osmosis, groundwater, and surface water sources.
Since this landmark date, the utility has experienced three additional days where production exceeded 9 million gallons, with a peak of 9.2 million gallons recorded on June 8, marking the highest output to date.
This impressive boost in water supply has allowed the APUA to improve access for communities across the nation. However, the increased production has also highlighted the challenges faced by the utility’s aging distribution network.
As a result, teams have encountered numerous issues with broken mains, leading to intermittent water supply interruptions in certain areas.
The APUA continues to work diligently to address these challenges, ensuring reliable water supply as it navigates the complexities of an aging infrastructure while striving to meet the growing demand
Huge congrats to APUA on hitting over 9 million gallons/day in water production! 💧 Fantastic news for Antigua & Barbuda’s water security!
