Damani Tabor has been appointed a Communications Specialist in the Ministry of Works

Former UPP Senator Damani Tabor has been appointed as the new Communications Specialist in the Ministry of Works.

Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office Maurice Merchant made the announcement earlier today during the Post Cabinet Press Briefing.

“The cabinet also addressed the concern of communications between the Ministry of Works and other related sectors, sectors that the Ministry of Works has to work with, along with communication to the general public and in that light, the cabinet approved the appointment of a communications specialist in the person of Mr. Damani Tabor.

“He will be working with the Ministry of Works in the field of communication. Cabinet approved that immediately,” Merchant explained.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet received an update from the Hon. Maria Browne on the ongoing road rehabilitation and construction efforts being carried out by the Ministry of Works across various communities in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Minister reported that progress is steady and is expected to accelerate with the resumption of operations at the hot mix plant.

The Cabinet has given the green light for the paving of the access road to the Cooks Landfill using concrete, ensuring greater durability and long-term usability.

  1. is concrete the best thing to use with the kind of heavy duty trucks using that road daily?

  2. Appointing Damani Tabor, a former UPP Senator, as Communications Specialist for the Ministry of Works is a bold and encouraging move. It signals a potential shift towards valuing expertise and professionalism over partisan lines, which our country desperately needs. Good communication is often overlooked but is absolutely crucial for public trust, especially when it comes to infrastructure projects that directly impact people’s daily lives. If the Ministry can effectively share timely and transparent updates, it will empower citizens to better understand government efforts and hold them accountable. I also must give it up to Maria on the road work, shows that she’s finally off her ass and showing interest in her role!

  3. Infrastructure development is one of the most visible signs of government effectiveness, but it’s also one of the areas most prone to public frustration due to lack of information. The decision to appoint a Communications Specialist dedicated to the Ministry of Works is overdue and should help transform how these projects are presented and understood by the public. More than just updates, this role could facilitate feedback loops, allowing communities to voice concerns and suggestions that can be incorporated in planning and execution. Also, the concrete paving of the landfill access road is a welcome sign that the government is investing in durable infrastructure rather than short-term patches. This shows a level of foresight and care that’s necessary to build trust and confidence in public institutions.

  5. This one is the hardest pill to swallow. The “flowery words” Damani “I hate ABLP” Tabor. Some guts Gaston Browne has to bring this man into the realms of our party. We dont know who to trust. Surrounded by wolves in sheep clothing. You mean we couldnt have found anyone within the ABLP to be a communication specialist. Nah man.

  7. Shameful. Absolutely shameful. Soon the ABLP would be made up of a nest of former disgruntled Upp-ites. We can name them …we know them…Gaston I know you love people but you dont have to try to prove a point by rubbing shoulders with these people.
