Indian Diamond deal Mehul Choksi
Antiguan and Barbudan citizen Mehul Choksi, the businessman sought by Indian authorities for his involvement in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, has filed a lawsuit against the Indian government and five individuals in the High Court in London.
He claims they conspired to kidnap, torture, and attempt to extradite him. Indian officials have rejected these claims and challenged the UK court’s jurisdiction based on state immunity. They also requested that expert testimony regarding Indian law and the Constitution be considered.
Choksi’s legal team, led by barrister Edward Fitzgerald, alleges that the five individuals collaborated in a scheme to forcibly transport him from Antigua to Dominica, intending to send him back to India. The legal documents state that the defendants participated in an unlawful conspiracy that involved assault, false imprisonment, unlawful detention, and restriction of his liberty.
Currently, Choksi is in custody in Belgium, contesting his extradition to India. He is wanted alongside his nephew, Nirav Modi, who remains detained in London after facing multiple bail denials from the courts.
this guy is a legend in own rights
This man is wanted for one of the largest bank frauds in Indian history, and now he’s playing the victim card? Convenient timing while sitting in custody in Belgium
Choksi became a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda through our CIP. If his kidnapping claims hold up in court, it raises serious questions about our national security and sovereignty. and since The CIP is the hot topic lately i hope y’all take notes
So much for due dilegence when he was granted Antiguan citizenship/passport in the first instance! It should never have happened! How many crooks and rogues has the administration granted citizenship to?
Poor choksi. When will he ever catch a break. Guess money brings problems and many problems at that
Why this man don’t keep quiet. They already have all color notice out for you but yet still you there making yourself visible. Just cool
You’ve got a guy wanted for a massive fraud in India claiming he was kidnapped by them. It’s like something out of a spy movie, except it’s real life. It’s easy to just dismiss it, but if a UK High Court is letting it go to trial, there’s obviously more to unpack here. He’s certainly not making it easy for anyone, is he?
