Deceased Lashauna Bridgen
After 4 hours of deliberation a High Court jury has found Diondre Samuel not guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, clearing his name in the tragic death of Lashauna Bridgen of Yorks on January 20th, 2022.
According to trial testimony, the incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on January 20th, 2022 as Samuel was on his way to work, driving a grey Toyota Crown car along Friars hill road, when he collided with Bridgen.
The Jamaican national was reportedly crossing the pitch dark road from behind a parked Suv which had its light on high beam when she was struck by Samuel’s vehicle.
Defense Attorney Wendel Alexander reminded the jury that three fatal accidents occured in the same general area at night and that it was only after the 3rd fatality lights were placed in the area.
However, Prosecutor Paulio Williams told the jury that the accused must have been speeding and under the influence of marijuana leading to the fatal outcome.
Despite the prosecution’s claims, the jury found the evidence not sufficient, and returned a not guilty verdict.
Regardless of the verdict, a fatal crash leaves an indelible mark on so many lives. For Diondre Samuel, this means the legal chapter is closed, but for the families involved, the pain of losing a loved one from that 2022 Friars Hill Road incident continues. It’s a truly heartbreaking situation for all affected.
have you noticed that when ever a person is hit by a vehicle the driver is always the first to be blamed like he is supposed to be watching people instead of the vehicles in front of him.. and then when you watch the people and run into something they say you not minding you business …
the driver is always the first to be blamed if she wrong she wrong no just walk cross the road like it belong to you…look first then cross
What more can I say? He walked free, so I guess he wasn’t wrong! First and foremost why would she cross from behind a car at such a time?
what about her family now? He walks away from the case but they can’t walk away from the pain of losing a loved one? What is Justice? How do you define justice?
Not guilty and someone died. Come on. Justice will never be served for some people boy
WOW. When will Jesus come and bring justice to those who truly needs it?
A life was lost and a family remains in mourning
