Thieves have struck twice at water vending machines across the island, with police now investigating both incidents that netted criminals undisclosed amounts of cash.

At DJM Mini Mart in Clarks Hill criminals struck around 3:30 am on Tuesday, smashing open the refill water machine. The perpetrators created an opening and extracted cash from the unit.

A similar theft unfolded at Fresh and Easy Supermarket in Belmont, where thieves took a different approach between Monday night at 10:00 pm and Tuesday morning at 2:00 am.

Rather than breaking the machine open, the criminals completely dismantled the cash holder attached to the water vending unit.

Both incidents resulted in the theft of undisclosed sums of Eastern Caribbean currency, with police withholding specific amounts as part of their ongoing investigations.

  2. Why do they leave money in these things though? I thought they took it out after closing hours. These criminals as well, they are sickening. How do you just go to mash up a whole machine that just sit there? The energy it takes to damage this thing is hilarious

  4. Water vending machines? Seriously? The amount of effort it must take to ‘smash open’ or ‘completely dismantle the cash holder’ for an ‘undisclosed amount of cash’ probably isn’t worth the risk. It’s ridiculous how desperate some people are becoming.
