Belmont Housing Project: 15 Acres for 100 Families Under Gaston Browne Administration
The Housing Revolution in Antigua and Barbuda, which gained momentum under the leadership of the Gaston Browne Administration, is set to impact the Belmont area significantly.
Recently, Parliamentary Representative Sir Steadroy Benjamin announced a substantial allocation of 15 acres of land designated for housing development, aimed at benefiting around 100 families in the community.
This decision follows the Cabinet’s approval and will enhance 40 parcels previously earmarked for housing initiatives.
Sir Steadroy expressed confidence that development will commence rapidly, emphasizing that the necessary transfers and site preparations are in progress. He hopes construction will begin as soon as feasible.
The new project will feature two and three-bedroom homes specifically designed for working-class families. Priority will be given to residents of the St. John’s City South constituency who have long awaited such an opportunity.
“Under Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s leadership, the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party is reaffirming its commitment to the people of our nation by striving to provide affordable housing and empower citizens by enabling them to own their homes,” Sir Steadroy remarked.
He also highlighted the relentless efforts of himself and the St. John’s City South branch executive in pushing for these housing developments to bring essential benefits to the local community.
An official government statement noted the urgency of the housing demand, which was reflected in the thousands of applications received by the Central Housing and Planning Authority and the National Housing Development and Urban Renewal Company Limited.
This has led to the Belmont housing project being categorized as a high-priority initiative. Ministers for Housing, Works, and Urban Development are directed to work collaboratively with local representatives to fast-track their implementation.

Welp be happy that you’ll be able to afford your own home without having to by cement. Just the money from the bank and you’re good. Think about getting the money from the bank and it’s not enough to buy materials. Now your house it stalled until you can pay the bank
