The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs has welcomed participants of the 2025 Summer Internship programme, aimed at introducing young people to the workings of the central government.

During a welcome ceremony, Minister E.P. Chet Greene emphasized the initiative’s importance in exposing youth to the realities of the workforce and encouraging their contributions to national development.

“We are the point of contact between Antigua and Barbuda and the world,” he said, referencing the increasing global conflicts.

Permanent Secretary Ambassador Dr. Clarence Pilgrim highlighted the significance of the internship as a step in professional discovery, urging participants to engage with real issues such as trade policy and economic data.

Coordinator Jomica Carbon noted that interns will spend six to eight weeks working within the ministry and will participate in activities designed to deepen their understanding of its functions. Plans for engagement with Barbuda are also included in the programme.
