On August 10, 2025, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, made a heartfelt return to his hometown of Swetes for the memorable unveiling of the Swetes Men 4 Life Wall of Fame.
This initiative serves as a permanent tribute to the extraordinary men and women whose contributions have significantly influenced both the local community and the nation.

The Wall of Fame celebrates a diverse array of honourees from various fields, including politics, education, business, sports, and community service.
Among the distinguished individuals honoured was Sir Rodney, who was acknowledged for his remarkable service in medicine, politics, and national leadership, as well as his lasting impact on the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda.
As he walked along the Wall of Fame, Sir Rodney took a moment to reflect on the legacies of several inductees, including Brigadier Telbert Benjamin and the late Mrs. Ruth Limerick, a revered educator and union leader.
A particularly touching moment came when he paused at the plaques commemorating his late parents, Sir Ernest Williams and Lady Irene B.
Williams, who were recognized for their long-standing dedication to education, public service, and community development.
In his speech, Sir Rodney shared heartfelt reflections on his upbringing in Swetes, crediting the supportive environment of the village and the examples set by his parents for guiding his life’s journey.

He praised the organisers for establishing a permanent tribute that embodies the resilience, unity, and aspirations of the Swetes community, expressing hope that future generations would draw inspiration from the lives immortalized on the Wall.
The event featured lively musical performances by the Irene B. Williams Steel Pan Orchestra, personal testimonies from various honourees, and blessings for the Wall.
The ceremony gathered villagers, families, and supporters in a touching celebration of community pride and heritage.

Seeing this makes me so proud. It shows that you can start in a small community like Swetes and rise to the highest office in the land, all while maintaining the respect and admiration of your people.
