A 105-member national contingent will represent Antigua and Barbuda this week at CARIFESTA XV in Barbados, the region’s premier showcase of Caribbean culture and creativity.
According to notes from this week’s Cabinet, the diverse delegation that leaves tomorrow includes artists, performers, and support staff who will highlight the nation’s cultural heritage through steelpan, theatre, dance, visual and craft arts, literature, culinary arts, film, and music.
Among the featured groups are the Hellsgate Steel Orchestra, the National Youth Theatre, the National Dance Theatre, and the legendary Burning Flames.
Caribbean pop music, DJs, and film practitioners will also take the stage, while the culinary team will present the island’s rich gastronomic traditions. In addition, 20 schoolchildren are part of the delegation, offering them an opportunity for cultural immersion and first-hand regional exposure.
The team will be supported by a management unit, media personnel, and technical staff to ensure smooth participation throughout the ten-day festival.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne, along with Ministers Maria Browne, Daryll Matthew, Shenella Govia, and Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, are expected to join the delegation and attend aspects of the festival, further underscoring the country’s commitment to cultural diplomacy and regional collaboration.
