The Rotary Club of Antigua has reaffirmed its commitment to national development by donating 35 laptops to two key institutions: the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) and the Youth Intervention Centre (YIC). The initiative is part of the Club’s Education Through Technology (ETT) Project, aimed at bridging the digital divide and enhancing access to technology across the nation.
15 Laptops for the Youth Intervention Centre
Assistant Superintendent of Police Raffie Browne expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for prioritizing the YIC.
“This Centre is one of the most vital departments in youth development and rehabilitation, because the youths are our future,” ASP Browne said.
Corporal of Police Audie Browne highlighted the Centre’s role in supporting students who are suspended from school by providing life skills and guidance. “When a child is suspended, they spend time at the Centre where they learn critical lessons such as bullying awareness, coping with peer pressure, peaceful conflict resolution, and anger management,” he explained.
The 15 laptops were formally presented by Past President Paul Ryan, Service Projects Director, and Rotary Club President Elisa Graham. Also in attendance were Sergeant of Police Shenette Morton and Constable Rashidi Merrifield.

20 Laptops for the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force
President Elisa Graham also presented 20 laptops to the ABDF to support training and administrative programs. Lt. Col. Eugene Phillip accepted the donation on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier General Telbert Benjamin, and the officers of the Force.
“Not only will these computers strengthen our training programmes, but they will also enhance our administrative capacity. The timing is particularly meaningful as this donation coincides with the ABDF’s week of activities,” Lt. Col. Phillip noted.
