The Rotary Club of Antigua has donated six bunk beds to the Sunshine Home for Girls, enhancing the living conditions of 12 young girls who reside there.
This generous contribution reflects the Club’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the well-being and development of vulnerable youth within the community.
The donation was made possible through the support of Townhouse Mega Store, which provided a significant discount to facilitate this initiative.
Sherrie-Ann Brazier, President of the Rotary Club of Antigua, expressed her delight in partnering with Townhouse Mega Store, stating, “We are thrilled to make a positive impact in the lives of these girls. Every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home, and we are dedicated to ensuring that happens.”
Over the past year, the Rotary Club of Antigua has engaged in various community service activities, contributing items such as laptops, kitchen appliances, and Christmas gifts to the Sunshine Home for Girls.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Club hosted a Vision Board Day, where women from Rotary were paired with the girls based on their future aspirations. This empowering event aimed to inspire the young residents and instill hope for their futures.
Additionally, the club has collaborated with Ms. Koren Norton to establish a counseling program tailored for the girls of the Sunshine Home. The program will focus on enhancing self-esteem, personal empowerment, conflict management, and mental health awareness.
The Rotary Club of Antigua continues to be committed to making a positive impact in the community. Activities such as these are funded through generous donations and the Club’s annual major fundraiser, the Colours fete.
This year, the sixteenth installment, themed “Colours of the Wild Wild West,” is set to take place on July 19th at the Coolidge Cricket Grounds at 8:00 p.m., encouraging the community to come together in support of local initiatives.
Thanks for your donation and contribution to the plea of the vulnerable in our society
Well done Rotary, I hope kids make the most out of it.
