Four Arrested for Stealing Watermelons from Parham Primary School Farm

Four young men have been arrested in connection with the theft of watermelons from the Parham Primary School Farm.

Police responded at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, following reports that several individuals were stealing agricultural produce from the school’s compound.

Upon their arrival, the suspects fled the scene.

A 19-year-old resident of Vernons was pursued and apprehended, while subsequent investigations led to the arrests of three more individuals—a 20-year-old, an 18-year-old, and a 17-year-old, all from Parham. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda emphasized that praedial larceny is a serious criminal offence. Authorities warned that such acts not only deprive farmers and institutions of rightful produce but also threaten the sustainability of local agriculture.

Police stated they will continue to maintain a firm stance and take decisive action against anyone found engaging in the unlawful taking of crops or livestock.

  5. I can’t stand thieves especially those who target farmers who work so hard in the hot boiling sun to earn a living . I know this is a school garden in this case, but I bet they have done this before and have stolen from farmers.
