Second Attempted Home Invasion in Vernons Sparks Community Concern
A local cleric is calling for increased vigilance and spiritual renewal following a second attempted break-in at his home in Vernons. Reverend Dr. Amos Nkrumah, a missionary with the Pentecost International Worship Centre on High Street, described the early-morning incident as unsettling and emphasized the importance of both security measures and community values in preventing crime.
According to Observer Media, the attempted burglary occurred on September 4 around 1:30 a.m., Reverend Nkrumah said. “I heard a noise coming from the entrance, when I got to the living room, I saw a man trying to break down the front door with some object. I shouted, and he ran off.”
Surveillance footage from nearby properties reportedly captured three masked individuals, partially armed, attempting to gain entry. The intruders also damaged security lights and cameras at both the front and rear of the property. This follows a previous attempt at the same residence, raising concerns about repeat offenders in the area.
“The individuals were masked, so I couldn’t identify them, but one was wearing red with a hood, and the others were in dark clothing.” Reverend Nkrumah said.
Police responded around 5 a.m., and a formal statement was filed at the Parham Police Station. Patrols in the area have since been increased.
Reverend Nkrumah stressed that while law enforcement is essential, addressing the spiritual and moral dimensions of crime is equally important. “A true change begins from within, through salvation and a transformed heart.” he said, urging community members to engage in outreach and mentorship.
No injuries were reported, and nothing was taken during the incident. Authorities continue to investigate, and residents are encouraged to remain alert and report suspicious activity.

Was robbery their primary motive or something else since they were armed? Whatever it might be, it’s wrong and needs to stop.
