The Rotary Club of Antigua turned its anniversary celebrations into an act of service this week, spending Thursday at the Fiennes Institute for its annual Volunteers Day.
Now in its fourth year, the initiative is part of the Club’s week of activities marking its 53rd anniversary under the theme “53 Years of Service: Continuing the Legacy.”
Residents of the Institute received new pillows, pillowcases, and personal sanitary items—gifts that were both practical and symbolic. The pillowcases were stitched through the Rotary Sewing Project, a hands-on effort by members aimed at providing sustainable support.

Rotarians say the donations were selected in consultation with the Institute to meet specific needs. “It’s not just about giving, but giving what makes a real difference,” one member explained.
The Club also extended thanks to sponsors who made the project possible, stressing that the contributions ensured residents were able to benefit from essential items that improve daily comfort.
Volunteers Day is just one of several activities on the anniversary calendar, which runs from September 4–10. The celebrations will wrap up on Wednesday, September 10, the date of the Club’s official founding.

Since 1972, the Rotary Club of Antigua has worked under Rotary International’s guiding motto, “Service Above Self,” carrying out projects that support education, health, and community development across the country.

53 years young and still going strong! Congrats Rotary.
Continue the good work Rotary Club.
