The CIBC Caribbean Unsung Heroes programme is back, and this year Antigua and Barbuda will be represented on the judging panel by Professor C. Justin Robinson, Principal of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.
Robinson is one of five distinguished judges selected to choose the first winners of the rebooted regional campaign. The panel is chaired by Trinidad and Tobago Independent Senator Francis Lewis, the former CIBC executive who first launched the initiative in 2003.
They will be joined by Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic, former Minister of Health in Barbados; Bishop Rev. Christine Gooden Benguche, President of the Jamaica Methodist District; Edison Sumner, President of the Bahamas Red Cross; and CIBC Caribbean’s Shayon Anderson, who is known for her philanthropic work in Jamaica.
The original Unsung Heroes programme, which ran for a decade, spotlighted men and women across the Caribbean who worked quietly but tirelessly to uplift their communities. Now, the bank has refreshed the concept to widen participation.
For the first time, nominations are open to anyone aged 10 and above who has not previously been recognized for their contributions. Along with the traditional category of “outstanding work in the community,” a new category will honor individuals who have displayed bravery, heroism, or extraordinary kindness within the past year.
Through this updated campaign, CIBC Caribbean hopes to once again shine a light on the hidden heroes who continue to inspire change across the region.

Great initiative
Honestly I believe CINC can do more in terms of giving back. Their interest rates are the highest and their services are then poorest
Programmes like this remind us that being a hero doesn’t mean being famous. It means serving others.
Bravery and kindness are often overlooked, glad to see that as a new category.
So many people do amazing work in silence. This program gives them the spotlight they deserve.
