Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant Carnival culture took center stage in the United Kingdom this past week, as three of the nation’s top performers delivered show-stopping performances at Notting Hill Carnival and a sold-out diaspora showcase in Leicester.

Reigning double Party Monarch Tian Winter, international DJ and producer DJ Quest, and 2024 Party Soca Monarch Young Vice brought the unmistakable energy of Antigua’s Carnival to audiences across the UK. Their performances, part of a cultural outreach tour spearheaded by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (UK & Europe) and the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, drew significant attention and engagement from both diaspora and mainstream audiences.

At Notting Hill Carnival, where over two million people gather annually, the trio performed live on the Island Mas UK float, igniting the crowd of 2,600 revelers with authentic Antiguan soca. The artists also headlined Dreamland J’ouvert in St Albans, thrilling an audience of 3,500 and cementing Antigua and Barbuda’s position on the UK’s growing soca circuit.

Melissa Christian of Island Mas UK described the moment as “powerful,” noting, “It was a powerful moment to bring true Antiguan and Barbudan representation to two of the UK’s biggest Carnival stages. Sharing the platform we have cultivated with such talented artists felt incredibly meaningful. Their presence added authenticity, energy and pride, and the response from the crowds spoke volumes.”

The cultural delegation also featured in media appearances, including BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Seani B show, an interview with Soca News, and collaborative content with fellow Caribbean artist Triniboi Joocie.

The tour culminated in Leicester, home to the UK’s largest Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora. The finale, dubbed “Road to Antigua Carnival 2026,” sold out within 24 hours, drawing more than 300 attendees. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary of Burning Flames, served up authentic Antiguan and Barbudan cuisine, and maintained a 100% local music policy. One attendee also won an all-expenses-paid trip to Antigua Carnival 2026.

Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, Chairperson of the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, emphasized the significance of the outreach: “We feel proud to promote our Carnival culture on international platforms. Sharing the energy, creativity, and spirit of Antigua Carnival with UK audiences shows just how powerful our cultural exports can be. It is opportunities like these that inspire deeper interest in what truly makes our Carnival the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival.”

Meanwhile, Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism for UK & Europe, highlighted the campaign’s success in boosting interest in travel to Antigua: “Having our artists headline in both London and Leicester has been incredible for the 2026 Carnival campaign. The reception we have had has already sparked a surge of enquiries about travelling to Antigua. This kind of authentic cultural engagement is precisely what helps turn interest into actual visits and lasting connections.”

The initiative forms part of Antigua and Barbuda’s broader strategy to harness music and culture in expanding its tourism reach. With the spotlight now firmly on Carnival 2026, officials hope the UK campaign will translate into stronger visitor numbers while reinforcing the destination’s reputation as the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival.
