A couple continues to nurse gunshot wounds at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, after they were shot while on the beach in Fort James.

According to state media ABS, police believe it was an attempted robbery.

According to reports, the couple was sitting in a rented vehicle along the beach around 11:30 p.m. when at least three armed men ambushed them.

As the driver attempted to speed away, the gunmen opened fire, striking the man in his right shoulder and the woman in one of her hands. Despite their injuries, the man managed to drive to the hospital, where both victims are now receiving medical treatment.

Investigators say three bullet holes were found on the vehicle, suggesting a close-range attack.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-8477.

This latest shooting has reignited public concern about security at popular beach locations, especially at night.

  1. Beaches are the best date nights for my girlfriend, I guess we can’t do that anymore. You’re truly at risk on everything right now! Being at risk in your home and out your home is hilarious

  2. Looking at how it is in this world right now, the best thing is to stay at home. It’s crazy how people aren’t even safe to sit in a car with their significant others before armed robbers are behind them

  3. These two don’t live nowhere? You hear storm coming and you on beach? Not saying the gum men right but with the way things going why would you want to put yourself at risk like that? Hope they recover quickly

    • Wah mek you nuh shut yuh mouth Pussyhole bout nuh live no way?! You can’t even spell gun a talk bout gum man

  4. Gun violence becoming too common. Time for government and community to step up together.

  5. So my husband and I can no longer enjoy a moonlight on the beach. is that what youre saying. nonesence if you ask me

  6. There should be more community policing at beaches and parks. These places are where people go to unwind and connect, not to become victims.

  7. A couple sitting by the sea at night is one of the most beautiful, simple joys in life. It’s sad that even love and peace can be interrupted by violence

  8. We can’t let fear take over our outdoor spaces. Everyone has a right to enjoy the beach, day or night. The authorities need to step up patrols and lighting in these areas

  9. Hope they both pull through. These gun crimes getting way too close to home.

  10. This is why we need better lighting, cameras, and community watch programs at popular beaches. Safety isn’t just the police’s job, it’s everyone’s

  11. Too many innocent people are getting hurt lately. It’s not just about robbery, it’s about the freedom to live without constant worry. We must protect that right

  12. Need to increase penalty to life in prison for possession of gun and wounding. We need harsher penalties so when perpetrators get caught they are put away for a very long time
