NODS Urges Caution as Flooding Worsens Across Antigua Amid Ongoing Rains from Tropical Storm Jerry

TS Jerry continues to dump heavy rain on the island

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is urging residents to exercise extreme caution as persistent rainfall linked to Tropical Storm Jerry continues to cause flooding in several parts of the island.

Officials report that areas including Sir Sydney Walling Highway, Bathlodge, Friars Hill Road, Folleys, and Pigotts (near the landing strip) are among the hardest hit, with some roads now partially impassable.

Motorists, particularly those driving smaller vehicles, are being strongly advised to avoid flooded roadways and to limit travel to essential trips only.

NODS has emphasized that attempting to cross flooded areas poses serious safety risks and could result in vehicle damage or injury.

Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to official updates from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service (MET) for guidance on travel safety and outdoor activities as conditions evolve.

NODS says it remains on high alert, actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure public safety. The agency has promised to issue further advisories as weather conditions develop.
