A troubling video circulating online shows several flooded graves at Tranquility Park Cemetery following the passage of Tropical Storm Jerry, reigniting long-standing concerns about the suitability of the site’s location.
The footage, filmed after hours of steady rainfall, shows water pooling around burial plots, with some graves visibly submerged. The video has sparked a wave of public outrage and sadness.

Fix this please before it gets worse
Had the rain continued it would have washed away the living muchless the dead its just the work of natural disasters so what is the big deal, sometimes you all have news that’s just no news just talk for talking sake .there are people house that got flooded so the owners got to relocate too or they just have to do the necessary adjustments bla, blah blah 🤔
Maybe it’s time to rethink how and where we build cemeteries. The land clearly can’t handle this much water.
Norissa, people WILL TALK and MUST TALK because when the UPP was in power and they airmarked that same spot for a cemetery, the Labour Party objected vehemently Potters people in particular. They said the same thing that is being said now – water logged. I can remember another site somewhere in the North Sound area was chosen. I don’t know whatever happened to that suggestion. So how come now the Labour Party is in power, they choose the same spot that they demonstrated so vehemently against? NORISSA ANSWER THAT.
Is not about UPP OR LABOR PARTY you all are dunce putting politics in every dam thing when they wash up then it’s another problem, look like burial vaults or concrete grave liners might be needed for that location, we should be happy it happened with just a few Graves get together and fix the problem going forward always politics we need to stop SMDH
Who thought it was a good idea to put a cemetery there in the first place?
I wonder if they rushed that cemetery.
If we can dredge for ships, we can fix a cemetery. Let Public Works and Environment Ministry tackle it together.
We quick to build fancy entrance and say “national cemetery,” but nobody fix the drainage! We need proper engineering, not just ceremony.
Even in death we must show respect. Maybe God using this to remind us we need to care for the land properly and not rush things.
Tranquility Park was built too low. It flood every big rain. Somebody must be held responsible, not just come and pump out water every time.
Water over graves is a sign that the earth crying out. We must cover our ancestors with honour.
They should raise the ground level or build proper drainage trenches around the plots. At least start with a feasibility study.
This isn’t just poor drainage ; it’s a planning failure. Cemeteries shouldn’t be sited in flood-prone areas, especially with climate change increasing rainfall intensity.
