Rape Case Against Two Police Officers Discontinued After Alleged Court Order Violations

The Director of Public Prosecutions has formally discontinued rape charges against two police officers following allegations that the complainant breached court orders.

The DPP filed a nolle prosequi on Monday, ending the trial that had begun earlier this month before Justice Ann-Marie Smith and a nine-member jury.

Defence attorney Andrew Okola brought information to the court’s attention that may have led to the discontinuation. He reported that before the trial started, the complainant had given case materials and information to social media personality ‘Mongoose,’ who then published them on his platform to thousands of followers. According to Okola, these materials constituted evidence that should have remained confidential to the court proceedings.

The defence counsel also informed the court that throughout the trial, the complainant had been in communication with another individual about the case, which violated court orders.

The charges stemmed from allegations dating back more than seven years to an incident on May 12, 2017.

  2. The court system should be very much ashamed of itself at this moment. Had this been just another civilian the case would’ve been totally different. Let’s this about it for a second. We live in a system that will fail us each time. And lemme add, confidential information leaked to mongoose isn’t released. Some may but never the faces. She has a case still I would suggest

You are 💯 correct! She made her zeal fir social media “fame” slap her right where she deserves it. Only the lunatic fringe entirely ignorant of the law, (the typical Antiguan) will continue to offer “sympathy” for making an ass of yourself.

    • How can court orders be breached and the victim is the one punished? That’s crazy. Justice feels upside down in this country

  9. Whether guilty or innocent, this case exposes serious flaws in how our justice system operates. Everything needs tightening from evidence handling to accountability.

  10. If this is true, then the DPP owes the people an explanation. Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done
