Antiguan Students in Jamaica Offered Hotel Stay as Storm Nears

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has stepped in to ensure the safety and comfort of Antiguan students studying in Jamaica as the island braces for the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa.

Arrangements have been made for students to stay at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel for two nights in the first instance, beginning Saturday, October 25. The government’s initiative covers accommodation and complimentary meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the duration of the stay, though some restrictions will apply.

Rooms will be double occupancy, and students must present a valid Antigua and Barbuda passport along with their student ID upon check-in.

Students can begin checking into the hotel from midday today, as authorities continue to monitor the weather system expected to impact Jamaica over the weekend.

The government has expressed its commitment to the well-being of Antiguan nationals studying abroad and says it will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
