The Antigua and Barbuda National Association (ABNA) UK celebrated the nation’s 44th Independence Anniversary with its annual Church Service on Sunday at the Moravian Church in London, embracing the national theme “Solid, Stable, and Soaring.”
The event brought together Antiguans and Barbudans across generations — from the early pioneers of the 1950s to the younger diaspora — in a vibrant mix of worship, steelpan, poetry, and patriotic song.

In her first address as President, Lyndia Bowers pledged to strengthen ABNA UK’s legacy, calling on members to unite their “energy, talents, and ideas” in building an organization that honours its past while inspiring the future. She also commended outgoing president Everton George for his dedicated service and leadership.
High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill, speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Foreign Minister E.P. Chet Greene, congratulated the community for its steadfast unity and highlighted Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations to host the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) — a milestone showcasing the nation’s global stature.
