Antigua and Barbuda nationals in the UK celebrate Independence

The Antigua and Barbuda National Association (UK) recently celebrated Antigua and Barbuda’s 43rd Independence Day with its annual Dinner and Dance event.

Key attendees included the Minister of Education for Antigua and Barbuda, Daryll Matthew; High Commissioner to the UK, Karen-Mae Hill; and Everton George, President of the Antigua and Barbuda National Association (ABNA).

Each delivered speeches that focused on the resilience, achievements, and unity of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora in the UK.

Minister Matthew highlighted this year’s independence theme, “From Community Collaboration to Global Gains.”

He emphasized the vital role that the diaspora plays in promoting the interests of Antigua and Barbuda on an international level.

High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill expressed pride in the commitment shown by the diaspora community towards Antigua and Barbuda.

She noted the significance of the theme, emphasizing its resonance within the UK diaspora.

Everton George, President of ABNA (UK), expressed appreciation to all members and attendees for their support of the event.

The event also featured the attendance of Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism to the UK, and Shakyrah Davis, the newly crowned 2024 Ms. Caribbean UK.

Attendees were entertained by Harry’s Steel Band and performances by singer Carroll Thompson, along with soca artists Brother B and Lad.
