The Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London has launched a new podcast series celebrating the nation’s 44th anniversary of independence.
The series, titled “Voices on the Diaspora in the United Kingdom,” was produced in collaboration with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Board’s UK & Europe Office and launched on October 27, 2025. The initiative aligns with this year’s national independence theme: “Solid, Stable, Soaring.”
Running throughout November, the podcast series features Antiguans and Barbudans who are making contributions to British society across various sectors, including marketing and event promotion, business and entrepreneurship, creative arts and music, and education.
The first episode, which launched on the same day as the announcement, features Michaela Vivian, described as a creator and presenter in the digital space.
Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Kingdom, emphasized the importance of the diaspora community. “Solid foundations are built by people,” she said. “Our diaspora’s talent and generosity strengthen the bedrock of our nation. By sharing their journeys, we connect hearts and harness skills – so Antigua and Barbuda can remain solid, stay stable, and keep soaring.”
Hill added that the platform aims to engage multiple generations, particularly third-generation Antiguans and Barbudans growing up in the UK, encouraging them to connect with their cultural heritage.
Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism for the UK & Europe, highlighted the connection between the initiative and tourism goals. “Tourism is powered by people and stories,” Osborne said. “This collaboration amplifies the voices of our community, builds pride, and opens practical avenues for cultural exchange, skills transfer, and travel.”
The podcast series is intended to facilitate collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge exchange between the diaspora community and Antigua and Barbuda.
Video clips and highlights from the series will be available on the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission UK’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, while full-length episodes can be accessed on the High Commission’s website.

I am really disappointed to have missed the UK independence day celebrations!.
Possibly my own fault for missing the post advertising the event. Please could we have a few mentions for the events for next year. Maybe on Facebook or news threads. Even mentioned in the Antigua and Barbuda news bulletins would be great.
I love the podcast idea, excellent 👌
Perfect timing for Independence. The diaspora always plays a big part, so this is a beautiful way to bridge the gap.
