APUA Warns Marine Operators to Keep Clear During Reverse Osmosis Plant Works

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Water Business Unit is advising the public and all marine operators to exercise caution as installation works continue at the Ivan Rodrigues Reverse Osmosis Plant.

A 24-inch intake line is currently being installed, extending approximately 1,000 feet eastward from the shoreline. During this phase of the project, the line will remain afloat until Thursday evening, October 30, when submersion is scheduled to be completed.

Small craft operators are strongly urged to maintain a safe distance of at least 1,600 feet east of the plant when navigating from north to south to prevent any interference with the installation works.

To ensure safety, the area will be clearly marked with buoys and equipped with adequate lighting for night operations.

APUA thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation as the utility advances critical improvements to strengthen the nation’s water supply system.

  5. As long as this means better water pressure when they’re done, I’ll take it. Just make sure nobody’s boat gets tangled up in that pipe.
