The bodies of at least two people have been found in Black River following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which devastated parts of Jamaica on Tuesday.
Head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, confirmed the discovery and said officers are at the scene conducting investigations. The victims have not yet been identified.
St Elizabeth was one of the parishes most severely affected by the Category 5 hurricane, which made landfall on Jamaica’s southern coast, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain, and life-threatening flooding.
Large sections of the parish remain cut off due to fallen trees, collapsed utility poles, and impassable roads. Emergency teams are working to reach isolated communities and assess the extent of the damage.

Sad. Condolences to the family
So tragic. May their souls rest in peace and their loved ones find comfort in this difficult time.
Terrible news. Let’s hope rescue and relief teams can reach those still in danger quickly.
