The Denis Bowers Rehabilitation Centre in Willikies received a meaningful boost on Friday when Director of Tourism (USA Office), Dean Fenton, made a personal visit and delivered a donation of essential care supplies to support the young men at the facility.
The visit was facilitated by Communication Specialist who works within the Ministry of Tourism Angelica O’Donoghue. It formed part of a broader initiative encouraging greater engagement from the diaspora, private sector, and civic partners in supporting programs that uplift and empower the nation’s youth.
The contribution, which included sports and wellness items, hydration products, vitamins, and toiletries—was aimed at improving the residents’ overall health and well-being as they continue their rehabilitation journey.
The Denis Bowers Rehabilitation Centre, re-launched earlier this year after being rebranded from the former Boys Training School, has become a beacon of transformation in Antigua and Barbuda’s juvenile rehabilitation system. Guided by its motto, “Building Brighter Futures Together,” the Centre focuses on education, vocational training, emotional development, and reintegration into society.
Fenton, who proudly identifies as an Antiguan living abroad, said the initiative was deeply personal.
“Wherever we go, Antigua and Barbuda remains home,” he said. “Giving back isn’t just something we do—it’s part of who we are. The work happening here is powerful. It’s not only about discipline; it’s about second chances and showing these young men that they can rise above their circumstances.”
During the visit, Fenton met with the Centre’s Director Randy Christopher, along with the matron and staff. He took time to encourage the residents, reminding them that their current challenges do not define their future.
“One day, any one of you could be a leader—a Minister of Tourism, a business owner, or a mentor,” he told the young men. “This is just one chapter in your story, not the end of it.”
Christopher, in expressing gratitude on behalf of the institution, said the gesture carried both practical and emotional value.
“We’re truly thankful for Mr. Fenton’s generosity and for taking the time to visit us,” Christopher said. “Support like this reminds our boys that people believe in them, and that’s incredibly powerful motivation.”
After touring the facility, Fenton commended the Centre’s holistic approach, noting its emphasis on personal development, education, and discipline.
Fenton’s act of kindness, Christopher noted, was more than just a donation, it was a reminder that even small gestures of support can help change lives and inspire brighter futures.

Thank you for this very much needed donation. I am sure it is appreciated. these children are humans and deserve to be shown some compassion
Much respect to Dean Fenton. Giving back to those rebuilding their lives says a lot about his character.
