Alsion Roach Wilson
Wilson, who was ailing, passed away at her home in New York on Saturday.
Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith described Wilson’s passing as a tremendous loss to the country, noting that she served with “the highest level of excellence” since her appointment in July 2019.
“Her accomplishments defied the time during which she served, with deep commitment to country, the Foreign Service, and indeed to Jamaicans at home and abroad,” Johnson Smith said in a statement.
In recognition of her service, Wilson was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander. Minister Johnson Smith highlighted her professionalism, loyalty, and generosity, adding that she left a lasting impression on colleagues and the wider Jamaican community.
Minister Johnson Smith extended condolences to Wilson’s husband, Omar, her children Brian, Patrick, and Vanessa, and the rest of her family.
Wilson’s passing marks the end of a remarkable career dedicated to diplomacy, public service, and uplifting Jamaicans around the world.
