Assessments Being Carried Out On All Saints Road Ahead Of Repairs

Several different assessments are being carried out on All Saints Road  – one of the country’s busiest roads – in preparation for the major resurfacing that will take place.

It was back in August that the Minister of Works Maria Browne made the announcement about the major road rehabilitation project set to revitalize this major artery.

Each project, she said, is part of a coordinated effort to address the nation’s most heavily used and deteriorated routes, with particular attention being paid to residential zones and busy commercial areas.

Cabinet Spokesperson Maurice Merchant gave a brief update on the project.

He explained that already a team has been contracted – Dexter Company from Canada – and a local group, Amdex.

They have actually commenced some work. They are doing some testings on some areas of All Saints Road. You would have noticed a group, a team that has been working on surveying All Saints Road, also cutting out patches and that’s for testing.”

This Canadian company has expertise in constructing roads throughout North America and so, they have been carrying out their surveys. So, very shortly you would see mobilization and a particular transformation of the All Saints Road. They are also collaborating with APUA. So, a part of the construction of the All Saints Road at the same time will be the removal of old APUA pipes to lay new pipes on that section of the All Saints Road”, Merchant explained.

Initially work would have been done from the Townhouse junction all the way to Falmouth but Merchant revealed a tweak in those plans.

Instead “they will work from the VC Bird Bust all the way to English Harbour.

  2. Positive move, but we’ll judge by the follow through. Residents need relief, not another temporary fix.

  3. It’s encouraging that proper assessments are being done, rushing repairs can create more problems later.

  4. I wish there were alternate routes big trucks like cement and dirt filled / laden mac trucks to use because they are the cause of a lot of road damage in my humble opinion.
